South Bay Area Holiday Events

Palos Verdes homes owners are just “next door” to some fabulous holiday events of our surrounding neighbors. Below are some fun activities for us to enjoy.

If you like going back in time, you will enjoy the “Victorian Christmas” at the Banning Museum.  This event will take place on Saturday, December 1, and Sunday, December 2, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. During this special weekend the grounds and museum are transformed into a Christmas festival with Victorian period entertainment.  They will have self-guided tours of the museum, children’s crafts, refreshments, and a visit from St. Nick.  One of the special highlights will be the horse-drawn trolley ride between the Banning Museum and the Drum Barracks at the Civil War Museum.  The admission is free, and for more information call (310) 548-7777.  The Banning Museum is located at 401 E. M Street, Wilmington.

The Torrance Memorial Medical Center will be presenting their 29th annual “Holiday Festival” Tuesday, November 27, 2012, through Sunday, December 2, 2012.  This event features decorated trees and a holiday celebration that includes a food court, musical entertainment, and a large gift section.  These trees are dedicated to a theme, and every year volunteer groups will donate trees to auction for charity.  The “Holiday Festival” is located in the parking lot under the big white tent adjacent to the hospital.  The public can view the trees on Tuesday and Wednesday, the 27th & 28th, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, December 1st from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday, the 2nd, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The cost is $5 per person, and free for children under 3 years old.  Senior citizens can enjoy the festivities for free on Wednesday and Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  For more information call (310)517-4606.  The hospital is located at 3330 Lomita Boulevard, Torrance.

The Riviera Village will be sponsoring “Riviera Village Holiday Stroll” on Thursday, November 29, 2012, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.  This is a fun event for all with a parade featuring marching bands from local schools and Santa will be making an appearance around 6:00 p.m.  The stores will be bringing out their festive wares and treats, and you will definitely be feeling the holiday cheer.  The Stroll takes place on Catalina Avenue and Avenue I in Redondo Beach.
