Rolling Hills Estates Hosts Its 56th Annual City Celebration

The 56th Annual Rolling Hills Estates City Celebration will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Empty Saddle Club.  This is an old fashioned celebration where Palos Verdes homes owners can enjoy activities all day such as equestrian events, hay wagon rides, pony rides, a petting zoo, watermelon eating contest, horse shoe and corn bag toss competitions, dunk tank, water balloon toss and many more fun games and activities.  Some of the equestrian activities will include Gymkhana & Trail Class Competitions, Police Dog Canine Demonstration, equine and dressage demonstrations and even a performance by the Junior Drill Team.

If you want to try your luck in the 22nd Annual Poker Ride, you can join for $10 per hand as a card playing carriage driver or horseback rider.  Non-riders who wish to participate can purchase tickets and have a riding friend carry them.  Players can register at Chandler Park for a one-hour ride between 8:00a.m. to 10:00 p.m. For more information call the Poker Ride Co-Chair Kelly Yates  (310) 704-7226.

A barbecue lunch will be served between 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m, and of course, you will be able to purchase beverages throughout the day from the Empty Saddle Club.  The Empty Saddle Club will also be serving a delicious barbecue steak dinner between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. catered by The Original Red Onion.  The pre-event price will be $16 for adults and $8 for children under 12.  These discounted meal tickets must be purchased by September 20th at Rolling Hills City Hall (4045 Palos Verdes Drive North) with cash or check only or on line at www.active.com by September 18, 2013.  A limited number of regular price tickets will be sold at the event at the cost of $22 for adults and $12 for children.

The Empty Saddle Club is located at 39 Saddle Road, Rolling Hills Estates 90274.  For more information contact Andy Clark, community services director, at (310)  377-1577, ext. 109, or go to www.ci.rolling-hills-estates.ca.us.
