home tour 2014

The Palos Verdes Art Center is proud to present “The Circle 2014 Historic Homes Tour” on Friday, April 11, and  Saturday, April 12, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  This tour features three historic Palos Verdes Estates homes.

This year’s home tour includes an Eclectic Spanish Colonial with 6,000 square feet that was built in 1920 by Roland Coate.  Within its historic walls the homeowner has created a family friendly home that is both pretty and practical.  This home is located on a double lot near the coast where it enjoys ocean breezes and beautiful views.

The second home is a Andalusian Farmhouse which was built in 1928 by Raymond Struthers.  This is a simplified more rustic version of the Spanish Revival style popular in Southern California during the 1920’s. It has been authentically restored to its original state.

The third home that you will be able to enjoy is a Restored Spanish Colonial which was built by Authur J. Williams in 1927, and restored by Ed & Susie Beall.  The new homeowners found a perfect setting for their collection of 18th century American antique furnishings.  Behind the house is a terraced garden originally designed by the Olmsted Brothers.

This will be an exciting tour for Palos Verdes homes owners as they learn the background of these historic homes.  You can catch the tour shuttle at The Neighborhood Church, 415 Paseo del Mar, Palos Verdes Estates.  The first bus will start at 9:45 am, and the last at 3 pm.

You can enjoy your included lunch before or after your tour.  Lunch will be served from 11 am – 2 pm at the Palos Verdes Art Center, 5504 W. Crestridge Road, Rancho Palos Verdes.  While at the Art Center you will find fascinating boutique shopping opportunities and The Circle’s own Classy Collectibles, a resale paradise.  Raffle prizes range from a stay at Terranea and a limousine trip to the Hollywood Bowl to sports and art packages.

Pre-sale tickets are $45 for PVAC members and $50 for non-members.  On the event days, tickets are $55 and will be available at PVAC and The Neighborhood Church.  For more information or to purchase tickets go to www.pvartcenter.org.
