South Coast Botanic Garden Offers Dance & Exercise Classes

Palos Verdes homes owners can enjoy dance and exercise classes locally at South Coast Botanic Garden.  Line Dancing in the Garden will begin on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. at the Frances Young Hall and will continue on the following Tuesdays, March 3, 17, 24, 31, April 7, 13, 21 & 28, 2015.  The series will cost $60 members and $75 for non-members; drop ins are $12 members/$15 non members.  Jan Kain, owner of People’s Place Fitness and Dance Center, will be teaching the many varieties and styles of line dancing from basics to more advanced.  She is considered to be an industry champion, and the class is said to make you smile, shine on the dance floor and cultivate a healthy mind and body.

Tai Chi in the Garden begins on Saturday, March 7, 2015, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. and will continue on the following Saturdays, March 7, 14, 21, 28, April 4, 18, 18, 25, & May 2, 2015.  The series will cost $75 members and $90 non-members; drop ins are welcome at a cost of $10 members/$12 non members.  Angie Sierra, instructor of Chua Phat To Temple, will show you how to release tension, increase balance and feel completely relaxed with Beginners Tai Chi in the Enchanting Garden.  Tai Chi is a graceful series of ancient Chinese meditative movement to help maintain physical health, well being and spiritual essence.  Pre-registration is required for this class.

Yoga in the Garden begins on Saturday, March 14, 2015, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and will continue on March 14, 21, 28, April 4, 18, 25, May 2 & 9, 2015.  The series will cost $80 members and $95 non-members.  Nicole Fagone, a certified yoga instructor with Yoga Alliance and KRI, has over 17 years of experience specializing in Kundalini Yoga, Flow Yoga & Restorative Yoga.  This yoga series, “A Journey Through the Chakras,” around the Garden helps to energize and rejuvenate each chakra (energy centers connected to systems in the body, organs and capacities of the psyche).  This is a great benefit for the body and mind whether taken in the series or separately.  Live music, sound healing and aromatherapy are a part of the experience.  The class meets in the Courtyard before going into the Garden.
