Andy Weir, author of the The Martian, will be featured On Saturday, March 5, 2016, by the Palos Verdes Library District during its 7th annual “One Book One Peninsula,” a community wide reading event.   This event will be held at the Palos Verdes Art Center from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  After a moderated book discussion, a Q & A session will be held and pre-signed copies of The Martian will be available for purchase.  This famous New York Times best seller was also made into an award winning movie.

At the age of fifteen, Andy Weir was hired as a programmer for a national laboratory, and has been working as a software engineer ever since.  He calls himself a lifelong space nerd and a devoted hobbyist of subjects like relativistic physics, orbital mechanics, and the history of manned spaceflight.  The Martian is his first novel and, with its great success, hopefully he will write another.

The Palos Verdes Art Center is located at 5504 Crestridge Road, Rancho Palos Verdes.  This event is free.  For more information call (310) 377-9584.
