Local South Bay Area 2016 Holiday Events!

Now that we have taken down the Halloween decorations, Palos Verdes homes owners are moving into the 2016 holiday season. Several of our neighboring cities are hosting some fabulous holiday events which are listed below:

Torrance Memorial Medical Center will be presenting their 33rd annual “Holiday Festival” beginning Tuesday, November 29, 2016, and running through Sunday, December 4, 2016  The Festival will feature decorated trees and a holiday celebration that includes a food court, musical entertainment, fun children’s activities and a large Holiday gift section.  More than 30 trees are each decorated with a different theme (and will be sold with proceeds going to support the transformation of Torrance Memorial’s North Patient Tower).  The “Holiday Festival” is located in the parking lot under the big white tent adjacent to the hospital on Skypark & Medical Center Drives.  The public can view the trees and boutique on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday & Thursday, November 30 and December 1, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday, December 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The cost is $5 per person, and free for children under 3 years old.  Senior citizens can enjoy the festivities for free on Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  There will also be a lunch with Santa on Sunday, December 4, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for $15 per person; this is a great opportunity to bring your camera and take photos of your little one with Santa.  In addition to the Holiday Tree Festival, there is a Fashion Show & Festival Gala.  Additional information is available at www.torrancememorial.org/HolidayFestival, or call (310) 517-4703.  The Hospital is located at 3330 Lomita Boulevard, Torrance.

In Riviera Village, the annual “Riviera Village Holiday Stroll” will take place on Thursday, December 1, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  This is a fun event for all ages with a parade featuring marching bands from local schools and Santa will be making an appearance around 6:00 p.m.  The stores will be bringing out their festive wares and treats and you will definitely feel the holiday cheer.  The Stroll takes place on Catalina Avenue and Avenue I in Redondo Beach.

If you would like an old-fashioned Christmas, you will enjoy the “Victorian Christmas” at the Banning Museum. This holiday event will begin with the annual Christmas luncheon in the historic Stagecoach Barn.  Guests will enjoy an elegant lunch with live holiday entertainment.  This event will take place on Friday, December 2, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. and the cost of the luncheon is $95 for non-members/$85.00 for Friends of Banning Museum members.  All of the proceeds for this luncheon will benefit the museums education and preservation efforts.  This is a very popular event and seating is limited so it is suggested that you purchase your tickets as soon as possible by calling (310)-548-2005 for reservations.

The Victorian Christmas event will take place on Saturday, December 3, and Sunday, December 4, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  During this special weekend the grounds and museum are transformed into a Christmas festival with Victorian period entertainment.  There will be self-guided tours of the museum, children’s crafts, a blacksmith and refreshments.  One of the special highlights will be the horse-drawn trolley ride between the Banning Museum and the Drum Barracks at the Civil War Museum.  Admission is free, and the last house tour and trolley ride are at 3:30 p.m.  Parking is on the street.  For more information go to www.thebanningmuseum.org., or call (310) 548-7777.   The Banning Museum is located at 401 E. M Street, Wilmington.
