Palos Verdes Library District March 2017 Activities

The Palos Verdes Library District offers great opportunities for Palos Verdes homes owners during the month of March.  There are interesting classes for both adults and children to enjoy.  Listed below are just a few of the fun events that are available:

Information Power! Workshops Core Skills for College Success  will be offered on Saturdays, March 4, 18 & 25, 2017, at the Peninsula Center Library Community Room (call Library for Workshop time).  They will be discussing how to tackle that first college research assignment that will be required of all students.  This is a great information power workshop, that the PVLD librarians will present in an interactive, collaborative session to learn what professors expect you to know at the college level.  These workshops are free but seats are limited.

Ellen Cantor Prior Pleasures Art Exhibit will begin March 12, 2017, at the Peninsula Center Library.

Jazz and Swing from A-Z Yet Another Encore!  Will take place on Tuesdays, March 7, 14, 21, 28, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Library Community Room.  This presentation will be filled with musical examples, rare photos, film clips, funny stores and live demonstrations that will entertain the audience.  These entirely new lectures will be on The Benny Goodman Story, Big Band Starts Charlie Barnet and Les Brown and Piano Stars of Jazz and Swing and more.

Open Mic Night Presented by the Peninsula Teen Advisory Council will take place on Friday, March 17, 2017,  from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Library Community Room.  You can share your talents or just watch and be entertained.  Performers can sign up at the door.  This is for grades 6-12 only.

Loss Angeles:  Author Talk with Mathieu Cailler will take place on Saturday, March 18, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Library Community Room.  Mathieu Callier is a writer of poetry and prose.  His work has been featured in national and international publications including the Los Angeles Times and The Saturday Evening Post.

Medicare 101: Understanding Your Medicare Plan Options will take place on Saturday, March 25, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Library Community Room.  You will have your questions answered about Part A, B, C, D, enrollment windows, cost sharing or “Extra Help,” showing the difference between Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage Plans and Supplement Plans.  The Presentation will be held by Carol Clement (CA License OH80524).
