Palos Verdes has a great selection of local summer camp fun for their residents.  As Summer is quickly approaching, it is time to start looking for activities for your children.  Below are a few of the activities and camps located here on the Peninsula for Palos Verdes homes owners to choose from.

Elite Dance Studio is teaming up with AMUSE Music Center to bring you a Dance and Music sampler.  Children will be able to spend the week sampling various types of dance including: Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Ballet, Music Theatre, Tumble Acting and More.  This camp is perfect for kids 5 to 10 years of age.  Camps will be offered in one week sessions starting June 12 through July 21, 2017.  Prices vary, and they suggest that you sign up as soon as possible.  For more information go to www.elitedancerhe.com.

PV Surf Camp is a local youth surf camp which has been in operation for 16 years and is for ages 6 to 15.  The camp offers various programs depending on age and skill level.  The programs vary for the participant who has never surfed and requires one to one support in the water at all times, to the intermediate surfer who wants to improve their skills (The ratio is never more than 4 to 1 instructor).  The camp starts in June with weekly sessions up until August 25, 2017.  The cost per session is $275 for the first week, and $225 for any additional weeks.  The sessions are from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  For more information go to www.pvsurfcamp.com, or call (310) 908-8164.

Palos Verdes Stables Pony Camp has activities for children ages 4 and up.  Children from 4 to 7 are able to enjoy the Pee Wee Pony Camp which is a great way to introduce your children to safe riding skills and how to care for a horse.  The day starts off with grooming and saddling and then each small group will have a riding lesson in the area.  In addition to playing different horse themed games, the campers untack and groom their horses while learning and practicing good horsemanship.  Summer camp sessions run for 8 weeks Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon; cost is $375 per week.  (Palos Verdes residents get a $40 deduction with proof of residency).  For more information, go to www.PalosVerdesStables.com or call (310) 378-3527.  Palos Verdes Stables is located at 4057 Via Opata, Palos Verdes Estates.   Other local stables that offer other camp or riding opportunities are:  Wagon Wheel Ranch Trail Rides, pat@pvhorses.net or (310) 567-3582; Seahorse Riding Club at 26411 Crenshaw Boulevard, Rolling Hills Estates, for kids 5-14 years of age and offers classes Monday through Friday with rates starting at $300/week – go to www.seahorseridingclub.org or call (310) 541-9487 for registration information; and Peter Weber Equestrian Center located at 26401 Crenshaw Boulevard, Rolling Hills Estates, www.PWECent.com or call (310) 541-9487.  Classes run from June 12 through September 1, 2017, and start at $275/week.

Peninsula Sports Camps have been offering children full and half day camps in Palos Verdes since 1972.  These camps are held at Palos Verdes High School which overlooks the ocean on the west side of the Peninsula.  The great thing about these camps is the variety.  Children can enjoy their favorite sport – baseball, basketball, tennis and soccer, and then enjoy a swim in the pool to cool off.  Children can purchase lunch at the snack shop.   At the end of their camp session, children will receive awards for their sports.  The cost per child for full day camp is $265, and half day camps are $145.  For more information on Peninsula Sports Camps or to register, go to www.peninsulasportscamps.com or call (310) 213-5433.  Remember the camps do fill up fast so it is important to register soon.
