South Coast Botanic Garden Celebrates “December In The Garden!”

Palos Verdes homes owners only have to look around the corner to find fun things to do in December at the South Coast Botanic Garden.  Whether it’s holiday sounds, yoga in the garden, gingerbread house workshops, holiday wreath workshops, holiday concerts, kids club (walking in a winter wonderland), or making a succulent ornament (at the make and take workshop), there is something for everyone.

December 1 – 31, 2017 – “Sounds of the Season” You will enjoy a brisk walk through the musical garden where select trails will host a custom holiday sound trek to get your toes tapping and body moving.

December 6, 9, 13, 16 & 20, 2017 – Yoga in the Garden will take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  The cost per class is $12 Members/$15 non-Members.  While there you can enjoy the beautiful views and fresh air of the Gardens where they will be doing Hatha yoga with Mary Godell as she leads you through asanas, deep breathing and mindful exercise.

December 3, 2017 – from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., you will create your own holiday wreath using California themed natural botanic elements.  This class has a limited size, and registration is required.  The price is $75 Members/ $85 Non-Members.

December 3, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., you will enjoy the Palos Verdes Symphonic Band Holiday Concert.  The cost is $10 at the door and children under 12 are free.  This annual Holiday concert will include songs by Leroy Anderson, Alfred Reed and Percy Grainger.  The highlight of the night will be a reading of The Night Before Christmas and a lively rendition of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.

December 10, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., you will enjoy Kids Club: “Walking in a Winter Wonderland.”  This program is free with your garden admission, but RSVP is encouraged.  Families with be connecting with nature while using their Adventure Guide, stopping by stationed activities make a natural bird feeder and learn more about evergreens. December 16, 2017, from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m., you will make a succulent ornament to add to your own Holiday tree. The project is also perfect for holiday gifting.  You can walk in, but they would prefer registration which can be done at southcoastbotanicgarden.org.  The cost for this workshop is $25 Members/$35 Non-Members.
