South Coast Botanic Garden Celebrates 2018 “December In The Garden!”

Palos Verdes homes owners only have to look around the corner to find December holiday events in December.  The South Coast Botanic Garden is presenting Gingerbread house Workshops, the Incredible Journey and the Lost Secret of the South Coast Botanic Gardens, Holiday Wreath Making, and Yoga in the garden.

Yoga in the Garden will take place on Wednesdays & Saturdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.  The cost per class is $12 Members/$15 non-Members.  While there you can enjoy the beautiful views and fresh air of the Gardens where they will be doing Hatha yoga with Mary Godell as she leads you through asanas, deep breathing, and mindful exercise.

December 9th & 15th, 2018, Gingerbread House Workshops will be offered from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  The price for these workshops is $8 Members | $13 Non-Members plus $8 per gingerbread house (minimum of one per group).  Make your own gingerbread house, with a twist – no baking or sugar needed!  Instead of frosting and cake, these gingerbread houses are made with natural elements from the Garden affixed to chipboard. Take a brisk winter walk to learn about treats that grow on trees, then make a stunning light-up masterpiece to take home.  Recommended for all ages.

December 9, 2018, join professional floral designers to create your own fresh holiday wreath, using evergreens, fresh flowers, succulents and other botanical elements.  Space is limited and advanced registration required.  Please call Visitor Services at (424) 452-0920 Ext. 3.

December 15, 2018 through March 31, 2018 – the Incredible Journey and the Lost Secret of the South Coast Botanic Gardens will take place with Membership or General Admission.  You can grab your satchel and compass and prepare for adventure as you search the Garden for hidden treasure and treasures hidden in plain sight.  But be careful, even the most seasoned explorers will have difficulty getting past the sticky trees, dangling vines, carnivorous plants, and hidden eyes watching quietly from the trees.  Reference your tattered treasure map to unlock the secrets of the Garden and find your way to the hidden lair.  This adventure is recommended for guests of all ages.  The self-guided activity will include an adventurous hike through the Garden; be sure to pack comfortable walking shoes, snacks, water, shade hats, sunscreen and possibly a picnic to enjoy along the way. Strollers for your littlest adventurers is encouraged.

The South Coast Botanic Garden is located at 26300 Crenshaw Blvd, Palos Verdes Peninsula.
