Palos Verdes Art Center Offers Culinary Camp for Kids!
Palos Verdes homes owners have a great opportunity to allow their children to experience an educational, garden based culinary camp at the Palos Verdes Art Center. The program is designed to help spark kids interest in healthy eating with activities that will allow the campers to explore their culinary sides. The program is designed for kids 7 through 12 years of age. The two camp offerings are August 12 to 16 & August 19 to 23, 2019. The camp will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The cost of the program is $405 for members/$450 for non-members. The program includes snacks and lunch.
Some of the lessons that will be taught by the farmer-chefs will be how to harvest fresh fruits and vegetables from an edible garden. They will be encouraging children to experience new tastes, learn culinary techniques and use local produce to prepare recipes from around the world, while learning how nutrition, math, science, and history can be discovered on their plate.
Some of the kitchen skills that your children will be learning are: Knife Skills & Safety, Garden/Kitchen Etiquette, Positive Global Food Culture, Plating/Dish Composition, Proper Place Setting, and Garden/Kitchen/Art Skills.
