Palos Verdes Youth Basketball League Sign-ups!
Palos Verdes homes owners have a wonderful opportunity to sign up their children for the Palos Verdes Youth Basketball League which was founded last year by three dads who have significant experience coaching, organizing, and refereeing youth sports. They had experienced the pros and cons in other team sports and firmly believed that youth sports are best when it truly is all about the kids. They wanted to offer an opportunity to try something new, make friends, and experience positive coaching while teaching the fundamentals of balanced competition, losing with grace, and winning with great sportsmanship.
The mission of the league is to develop age-appropriate basketball skills and build individual confidence in the sport. After consultation with coaching professionals, they determined this could best be achieved for our younger players by playing a 3-on-3 format. As a result, the Kindergarten through 3rd grade divisions are played on lowered baskets, with smaller balls, in a 3-on-3 half-court format designed to maximize every child’s opportunity to actively participate, build fundamental skills, and handle the ball. As the coaching staff are parents and volunteers themselves, they are committed to reducing potential game overlap by scheduling their Winter season to start after the end of AYSO’s Fall regular season and end before most of the Little League opening days. The on line registration will close on September 4, 2019, and their season runs from Saturday, December 7, 2019, through Sunday, February 23, 2020, with games being played indoors at Peninsula High School, Field House Gym, or Miraleste Gym.
The fees are as follows:
Kindergarten and 1st Grade
