Days to Fly The American Flag!

As you drive past Palos Verdes homes you will see that many people have the American Flag hanging throughout the year and not just on the major holidays.  However, what are the official dates to fly the Flag?

Progressive Title Company answered that question for me. The official days to fly the American Flag are:  January 1st – New Year’s Day, January 20, 2012 – Inauguration Day, 3rd Monday in January – Martin Luther King Jr’s Birthday, February 12th – Lincoln’s Birthday, February 22nd – Washington’s Birthday, 3rd Monday in February – President’s Day, first Thursday in May – National Day of Prayer, 3rd Saturday in May – Armed Forces Day, last Monday in May – Memorial Day (half staff until noon), June 14 – Flag Day, July 4th -Independence Day, first Monday in September –  Labor Day, 2nd Monday in October – Columbus Day, November 11th – Veterans Day, 4th Thursday in November – Thanksgiving Day and Variable Election Days.

The Fourth of July is approaching and it’s time to get your flags ready to fly again for Independence Day!
