On September 28, 2013, the Palos Verdes Library District will be sponsoring “One Book One Peninsula” a community wide reading event at the Peninsula Center Library. Author Edward Humes will be discussing his famous book Garbology, Our Dirty Love Affair With Trash, from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m., on the library rooftop. The author states that we each produce 102 tons of trash in our lifetime, which is more than any other people in the world. The book indicates that not only do we make a lot of trash, but we should consider the result. It costs hundreds of dollars to rid ourselves of this mess and he asks where really is our culture headed? He will be discussing how our nation’s over consumption and wasteful ways must be stopped. Join this community wide conversation to learn what creative business leaders and families are doing to stop the waste.
Author Edward Humes will also be available for a book signing from 3:30 – 4:00 p.m. You can purchase books before and after the event from the local bookstore, The Book Frog, located in the Promenade on the Peninsula upstairs, unit #273.
The Palos Verdes Peninsula Center Library is located at 701 Silver Spur Road, Rolling Hills Estates 90274.
