Fred J. Hesse Jr. Community Park in Rancho Palos Verdes is considered to be one of the most popular parks for Palos Verdes homes owners. It is a well manicured parkland and has an active Community Center. The park has both an upper park area with baseball and large soccer fields, and also a large playground area with unique equipment that is suitable for both toddlers and adolescents. The newly developed lower park site has a sand volleyball court, and picnic areas, but there are no barbecues allowed there. There is a large picnic area with lots of tables and barbecues located near the parking lot which makes it easy for carrying goods. There is also a quarter mile walking path with panoramic views from Catalina Island to Malibu. The Community Center holds most of the privatized recreation classes in the area, and is the home of the Peninsula Seniors for their monthly lectures and entertainment.
The Community Center is available for rental for meetings and private parties. There are three additional rooms which can be rented out.
Hesse Park is located at 29301 Hawthorne Blvd, Rancho Palos Verdes 90275. The park hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to dusk and Saturday & Sunday 10:00 a.m. to dusk. For more information call (310) 541-8114.
