SAVE WATER, ENERGY, MONEY, AND THE ENVIRONMENT
The City of Palos Verdes Estates will be giving a workshop on energy saving home upgrade projects and water conservation regulations on February 23, from 6:30-8:30 p.m at the City of Palos Verdes Estates Council Chambers. This program was originated to make owners of Palos Verdes real estate aware of up to $4,500 in rebates and incentives.
Recently the City of Palos Verdes Estatesadopted regulations to comply with the newly adopted Assembly Bill 1881 which requires the cities and counties implement ordinances to regulate the irrigation of properties. Part of this plan requires existing irrigation systems be adjusted to prevent overspray and runoff into the streets. This will not only save water consumption, but reduce potholes in the street which is the result of too much water runoff. Another component of these new rules will require landscaping plans to be prepared for some residential projects. They will need to comply with water usage reduction and water efficient irrigation systems. This program focuses on reducing our dependence on imported water (66% today) to 33% by 2020. We should all do our part to conserve this precious resource.
