Did you know that our local Cabrillo Marine Aquarium offers tidepool walks on scheduled weekends when the tide permits? The Cabrillo Marine Aquariums Education Staff conducts tours of the Point Fermin State Marine Park as a free event. They begin with an informative slide show in the John M. Olguin Auditorium where they discuss the various crustacians that live in the tidepools, then they take you on a naturalist-led walk to see the different animals in their natural habitat. It’s a great way to spend a couple of hours in nature while enjoying the oceanside. It is recommended that you wear outdoor clothing, sunscreen and sneakers. If you are bringing young children an adult must always be in attendance. Reservations are required for large groups.
Tidepool tours are available on Sunday, February 20th from 2:30-4:00p.m. and Saturday, February 26th, from 10:30 a.m.-12:00p.m. For more information regarding tide pool dates go to www.cabrillomarineaquarium.org or call (310) 548-7562. Cabrillo Marine Museum is located at 3720 Stephen M. White Drive, San Pedro.
