On August 2, 2011, National Night Out will be celebrated throughout our cities for Palos Verdes homes owners. This event will be held from 6:00-9:00p.m. at different locations here on the Peninsula. Palos Verdes residents will be celebrating a night off from crime with law enforcement and emergency responders from their community. The event is held nationally in all 50 states, and U.S. military bases around the world; all held annually on the first Tuesday in August.
On our Peninsula, the mayor and city and council members, along with other police and fire personnel attend block parties held throughout the communities which are supported by your local Neighbor Watch board members. These events are usually made up of both adults and children who look forward to seeing the police and fire trucks arrive at the parties. Officer McGruff (crime dog) usually is available to take pictures with the children and hand out goodie bags.
To find out more about these parties in the Palos Verdes area, contact Laurie Slawson, our Community Relations Officer, at (310) 378-4211. Each city will have it’s own officer or leader help you with locations throughout your community.
