Saturday, September 24, 2011, is Museum Day which means participating museums are offering free admission. You can check out the list of free museums on the Smithsonian Magazine website or by clicking here. I was excited to see our own Palos Verdes Art Center is on that list (however it is usually free anyway). As you may know, Palos Verdes Art Center is being rebuilt and has temporarily moved to the old Border’s Book Store site in the Promenade shopping center. It is estimated that the new Palos Verdes Art Center will be open in about a year.
There are several local museums that are offering free admission with ticket (go online and fill out request) – Museum of Contempory Art in Los Angeles, California Science Center in Los Angeles, Bowers Museum of Cultural Art in Santa Ana, Santa Monica Museum of Art, Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, Fowler Museum in Los Angeles at UCLA, International Surfing Museum in Huntington Beach, Chinese American Museum in Los Angeles, Autry National Center in Los Angeles, Zimmer Children’s Museum in Los Angeles and more. What a great opportunity to get a free pass for the day and see fabulous art!
