Palos Verdes homes owners have a fabulous opportunity to hear several interesting topics discussed at the August 2013 lectures sponsored by the Peninsula Seniors. These lectures take place at Hesse Park located at 29301 Hawthorne Boulevard, Rancho Palos Verdes, in the Fireside Room on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
August 7 – Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy will be introducing Bruce Biesman-Simons who will be discussing his involvement with the PV Land Conservancy. He will be talking about the programs for students as well as nature hikes and the many volunteer opportunities. Bruce is an architect with many years of experience in architectural design and management.
August 14 – Tried & True Techniques to Reverse Facial Aging – Dr. James Wethe is a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstruction surgeon in Torrance. He will be discussing the newest methods to fight off the effects aging from gravity, sun exposure, etc.. There will also be time for questions and answers.
August 21 – What I’ve Learned As I’ve Grown Up – Robert Eckert will be discussing his amazing background. He is an interesting man having been on the board of McDonalds Corporation, Levi Strauss & Co. and Amgen Inc. He is also on the Advisory Board of several colleges, a member of the American Society of Corporate Executives and the World Presidents’ Organization. He is a director of the Pacific Council on International Policy, and recently retired as Chairman of the Board of Mattel. This should be an amazing opportunity to hear how this man did it all.
August 28 – A Journey in Self Publishing – Alan Cook the author of “Dancing With Bulls” and Janele Carbajal, the illustrator, will be discussing and sharing their journey with this book. Mr. Cook will be discussing his second career as a writer after being in the computer industry for more than 25 years. Several of his mysteries include “Relatively Dead,” “Forget to Remember,” “Run into Trouble,” and “Honeymoon for Three.”
