For the last 57 years the Neighborhood Church has been presenting the Yule Parlor Parade. This year it will be held on Friday and Saturday, December 6 & 7, 2013. The Home Tour itself is from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the Tea and Boutique is held in the Fellowship Hall from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m.
Each year a selection of beautiful homes are chosen and decorated in a unique manner for Christmas. This year’s tour includes stunning Palos Verdes Peninsula homes and the historical Haggarty Mansion. The homes have different themes such as: “Family Christmas,” “Christmas Breakfast,” “Christmas on the Coast” and “Christmas Open House.” Each home has its own special charm, and is totally decorated to its theme. Proceeds from The Neighborhood Church’s Yule Parlor Parade are donated to our local South Bay charities.
At the Christmas Tea, you can sit and listen to music while enjoying tea, sandwiches and cookies (which will put you in the Christmas spirit). The patio is prepared for outdoor seating if weather permits and you can visit the boutiques which are steps away. The boutiques offer one of a kind items that have been created by church members and there is even a Bake Shop with homemade goodies. The Vintage Shop, which opened two years ago, has treasures from furniture to glass items that have been donated from local attics.
The Haggarty Mansion which was built as a private villa in 1927 and is now the home of The Neighborhood Church, will be giving tours each half hour and you can walk through this beautiful historical building while learning its story.
Ticket prices are $30 if you order before December 5th and then the price is $35 at the door. Tickets can be purchased directly from the Church at 415 Paseo del Mar, Palos Verdes Estates, or you can go online to http://yuleparlorparade.org or order by phone (310) 378-9353. A map with addresses of the homes on tour will be included with all tickets. You can only wear flat shoes – no high heels. They request no cell phones or cameras (no photos) on tour properties.
