Peninsula Seniors Lecture Series June 2015
Palos Verdes homes owners have a wonderful opportunity in June to hear several interesting topics at the Peninsula Seniors Lectures Series. These Lectures take place at Hesse Park located at 29301 Hawthorne Boulevard, Rancho Palos Verdes, in the Fireside Room on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
June 3, 2015 – Dr. Kate Cummins – Mindfulness, Pain Management, and Stroke Awareness will be the topic at this lecture. This lecture will discuss the workings of the brain and how to combat pain management through cognitive behavior change, mindfulness and solution focused therapy. Dr. Cummins is a clinical psychologist specializing in neuropsychology and brain injury with a practice here on the Peninsula.
June 10, 2015 – Bill Lama will present History and Future of Environmental Movement – Environmentalism for the 21st Century. He will explore how the first priority of human life and human well being is the standard of morality. He will explain that as we strive to protect the environment we must take care of those things that become detrimental to human life.
June 17, 2015 – John Warbank will be discussing Memory and Insomnia Challenges. John has been practiving and sharing Zigong and Qu-ssage for years. Through these techniques he believes you can achieve more restful/peaceful sleep which gives you wellness. The techniques that he shares are great for seniors as they can be done sitting, standing or even lying down. Most are self administered and produce great results. Mr. Warhank has a degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from USC.
June 24, 2015 – A. Roberto Friscancho, PH.D., Evolution – Biological anthropologist. Dr. Frisancho is known for his work on developmental human adaption to extreme environments such as high altitudes as well as growth and evaluation of nutritional status. Dr. Frasancho is the Aurthur G. Thurnau Professor of Anthropology at the University of Michigan.
