New Parking Reservation System for Del Cerro Park & Portuguese Bend Reserve!
Hiking in Palos Verdes has become popular at Del Cerro Park and Portuguese Bend Reserve trails. The varied terrains and spectacular ocean views bring hikers from all over the area. With its popularity though, it has created parking problems for local residents and their guests.
To ease this issue, the City of Rancho Palos Verdes is launching an online parking reservation system beginning July 6, 2021, on the ParkMobile app for Del Cerro Park and the Portuguese Bend Reserve. After months of looking for ways to improve the traffic flow in the area, the City came up with a plan. Hikers will be required to reserve one of the 60 parking spaces on Crenshaw Blvd south of Crest Road and on Park Place, near the Rattlesnake and Burma Road trailheads. There are no reservations needed on Crenshaw Blvd. north of Crest Road.
Visitors must make reservations by 11:59 p.m. the night before their visit. You will not be able to park and then try to reserve a spot and time slots will be limited to two hours and 45 minutes between 7:00 a.m. and an hour after sunset. For now, reservations will be free of charge until August 2, 2021, and after that time it will be $10 per time slot. There will be free parking from 7:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. on weekdays only (but a reservation is still required).
Residential recreational parking permit holders will still have access to the 15 parking spots on Park Place adjacent to Del Cerro Park, but they will still need to reserve the space ahead of their visit.
There will still be two spaces accessible for physically challenged visitors. Those two spaces won’t need permits, but will require reservations. For more information, call ParkMobile Member Services at (866)-330-7275.
Park hours are dawn to dusk. The address for Del Cerro Park is #2 Park Place, Rancho Palos Verdes and can be accessed at the south end of Crenshaw Boulevard.
