August Peninsula Seniors Lecture Series – Things To Do In Palos Verdes

Palos Verdes homes owners can learn about interesting topics at the August 2012 lectures sponsored by the Peninsula Seniors.  It’s also a good opportunity to meet and socialize with other local residents.  These lectures take place at Hesse Park, located at 29301 Hawthorne Boulevard, Rancho Palos Verdes, in the Fireside Room on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

August 8th – Larry Wood commonly known as “Mr. Hot Wheels” will talk about the creation and production of hot wheels in 1969. Young children all over the world are still enjoying today these wonderful toys which came from the Mattel Company.

August 15th – Daniel Wheeler, the author of “Grief and Grieving” will discuss the adjustments which take place having to start a new life, and what goes on within yourselves thereafter.  He is Executive Director of Horizon Consulting, and is also a writer, speaker and counselor.

August 22nd – Carla Nay, who is the  program director of KEEP SAFE Coalition, which is the program to increase public awareness of crimes involving financial abuse of the elderly, will talk about law enforcement and social service agencies which are assisting with elder financial abuse.

August 29th – Kathy Gould, who is the director of the Palos Verdes Library District, will be discussing the future of the library.  She will be going over the importance of libraries in the past and what the future will hold for them.  This should be a very interesting discussion.
