white christmas

The holidays are almost here and Palos Verdes homes owners can enjoy many upcoming events.  There are tree lighting celebrations, holiday parades, Nutcracker ballets, visits with Santa and more.  Here are just a few of the events coming your way:

The Promenade on the Peninsula will be beginning their holiday traditions on Saturday, November 23, 2013, with a Holiday Open House starting at 4:00 p.m. with refreshments, snacks and store promotions.   This will lead up to the Annual Tree Lighting Celebration which begins at 5:00 p.m. with local talent providing holiday performances, music and a special guest.  The Promenade on the Peninsula  is located at 550 Deep Valley Drive, Rolling Hills Estates.

The Peninsula Center will be starting off their holiday celebrations on Friday, November 29, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. with the Lomita Sheriff’s Horse Possee and Lollipop Brigade escorting Santa to the big Christmas tree.  This will be followed with entertainment from the PV Ballet Nutcracker performance, Norris Times Square Kids, Barbershop quartets, and, of course, photos with Santa.   More Santa photo dates are on Saturdays & Sundays from November 30 thru December 22nd, 2013, from 12:00-4:00 p.m.  The Peninsula Center is located on the corner of Silver Spur Road and Hawthorne Blvd.  For more information go to info@peninsulashoppingcenter.com.

The Nutcracker Ballet will be presented this year by four different studios and held at the Norris Theatre.  They are: Classical Ballet Theatre presenting “Highlights from The Nutcracker” on November 17, 2013; Peninsula School of Performing Arts will be presenting their rendition of the Nutcracker on November 22 – 24, 2013; Elite Dance Studio will be showing “The Nutcracker Twisted” on November 30, 2013, and Palos Verdes Ballet will be showing their production on December 21 & 22, 2013.  For more information and tickets contact the Norris Theatre at (310) 544-0403 or go to www.NorrisTheatre.org.

The Norris Theatre will be presenting Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” December 6th thru the 15th.  This wonderful 1954 film which originally starred Bing Crosby will include some of the greatest songs that were ever written.  The show also has a live snowfall and matinee performances will even be graced by Santa.  This is a holiday treat that the whole family can enjoy.  Show times are 8 p.m. on Fridays & Saturdays, and Sunday matinee is at 2 p.m.  Tickets are $45 for adults and $25 for children. For more information or to purchase tickets contact the Norris Theatre at (310) 544-0403, or go to www.NorrisTheatre.org.  The Norris Theatre is located at 27570 Norris Center Drive in Rolling Hills Estates.

On Saturday, December 7, 2013, the City of Rolling Hills Estates’ annual Parade of Lights will take place.  This is a great opportunity for local community groups and businesses to sponsor floats and parade groups to join in.  The parade will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and will go along Silver Spur Road, Deep Valley Drive and the Center Drive.  There are floats, bands, animals and, of course, Santa to make this an event to remember.  It is suggested to come a little early to find yourself a great viewing spot.  For more information or to request an entry registration, contact Andy Clark at (310) 377-1577 x 109 or go to AndyC@ci.Rolling-Hills-Estates.ca.us.
