South Coast Botanic Garden Offers Exercise Classes in the Garden!

The South Coast Botanic Garden is offering a series of summer classes starting on Tuesday, June 16, 2015.  This is a great opportunity for Palos Verdes homes owners to get a little exercise while enjoying these beautiful gardens instead of a studio environment.   You will feel the peace and energy of the gardens around you.  The pace and difficultly of these classes are appropriate for most individuals.

New Pilates in the Garden will take place on the Amphitheater Lawn with classes at 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Fridays: June 12, 19, 26, July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, 2015.  Cross Fit Tough Angels will instruct you for Mat Pilates in the beautiful setting of the Garden. Gemma will be teaching the class, which is meant to improve your body, help with the balance of muscular toning and strengthening.  The series price is $80 members/$105 non-members and drop in classes are $12 members/$15 non-members.

Tai Chi in the Garden will take place at the Koi Pond Patio with classes from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Saturdays: June 13, 20, 27, July 4, 11, 18, 25, & August 1, 2015.  Instructor Angie Sierra of Chua Phat To Temple will be teaching this graceful series of meditative movements that help maintain physical health, well being and spiritual essence.  The series price is $75 members/$90 non-members, and drop in classes are $10 members/$12 non-members.

Line Dancing in the Garden will take place in the Frances Young Hall from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Fridays: June 13, 20, 27, July 4, 11, 18, 25, & August 1, 2015.  Instructor Jan Kain, owner and director of People Place Fitness and Dance Center, will be the teacher of the many varieties and styles of line dancing from basic to advanced.  The series prices is $60 members/$75 non-members, and drop in classes are $12 members/$15 non-members, and drop in classes are $12 members/$15 non-members.

Strength & Cardio Fitness in the Garden Series 1 will take place in the Frances Young Hall from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesdays: June 16, 23, 30, July 7, 14, 21, 28, & August 4, 2015.  This class requires that you bring a mat, 3-5 pound weights and water.  This workout includes strength and cardio with dance like cardio intervals and motivating music.  The series price is $50 members/$65 non-members, and drop ins are $10 members/$12 non-members.

Strength & Cardio Fitness in the Garden Series 2 will take place in the Francis Young Hall from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays: June 18, 25, July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, & August 6, 2015.  The series price is $50 members/$65 for non-members, and drop ins are $10 members/$12 non-members.
