Palos Verdes Peninsula Seniors Lectures & Coffee & Cars January 2018

The Peninsula Seniors Lecture Series January 2018 is a great opportunity for Palos Verdes homes owners to hear interesting speakers.  These Lectures take place at Hesse Park located at 29301 Hawthorne Boulevard, Rancho Palos Verdes, in the Fireside Room on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

January 10, 2018 – Jim Shneer will be returning to present A Caravan of Martyrs: The Hashemite Family.  This lecture will cover the elements of war, politics, deceit, murder and sex, with the story of a Middle-Eastern family – albeit an important one.  The Hashemite lineage goes back through Mohammed and earlier; and the Hashemite family has been in power for more than 800 years in different countries.

January 17, 2018 –  Grace Chon, who is a self-taught commercial and editorial Animal Photographer, will speak about the world of animal and pet photography.  She will discuss her own personal background, having the greatest job in the world, and the benefits to owning pets.

January 24, 2018 – Dave Carroll is an ACSM certified Health & Fitness Specialist.  He has worked with seniors for over 25 years, and will explain how improving balance and coordination, plus muscle strength can help with fall prevention. Wear comfortable clothing since he will be demonstrating some warm ups and exercises that you can join in or just watch.  One of the areas he will be discussing is how exercise, nutrition, hydration, mindfulness, nature and sleep can improve your health and well being in 2018.

January 31, 2018 – Liz Cantine will be returning to delight everyone with Crooners and Songbirds as dancers and singers beckon you back to the golden age of music and entertainment.  Liz is a professional dancer, director, choreographer and instructor.

COFFEE & CARS

On Saturday, January 6, 2018, the Peninsula Seniors will sponsor Coffee & Cars at the Peninsula Shopping Center (Silver Spur Road and Hawthorne Boulevard in Rolling Hills Estates).  A group of car enthusiasts will bring their Hot Rod, Custom, Muscle Car, Sports Car, Antique, and other special interest vehicles, to the Peninsula Shopping Center parking lot where you can admire the cars, meet the owners and ask them questions.

Coffee & Cars is held the first Saturday of every month 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the parking area near Starbuck’s in the Peninsula Shopping Center.  Each month, a different type of car is featured.
