On a parcel of land which now is known as Long Point in Rancho Palos Verdes, an oceanarium, Marineland, was built in 1954 which was the first aquatic theme park in Southern California. It set the stage for a tourist destination which contributed to animal research and just plain entertainment. Now after many years of closure, the former employees and the community are invited to a daylong reunion at Terranea Resort on Saturday, September 25. 2010.

It  will include a guided walk highlighting various Marineland places of interest.  Did you know that Nelson’s Restaurant is built on the same footprint as the lower plaza restaurant at Marineland?   There will also be a sea lion release with the Marine mammal Care Center at 1:00 p.m.   A  jazz concert will be held on The Meadows from 2 to 5 p.m.  and there will be a $10 charge which will benefit the mammal center at Fort McArthur.
