The history of the Palos Verdes Beach and Athletic Club in Palos Verdes Estates goes back to the 1930’s when it was originally opened as The Palos Verdes Bathhouse and Beach Club. The Beach Club was renamed the Roessler Pool, in honor of Ed Roessler after his death in 1964. He had been mayor of Palos Verdes Estates for twenty five years and his dedication was instrumental in the establishment of the City of Palos Verdes Estates.
The club fell into disrepair and in 1988, a group of citizens proposed selling memberships to raise capital to remodel the Club. It reopened in 1993 after undergoing extensive renovation and was renamed the Palos Verdes Beach and Athletic Club after. This beautiful facility offers two pools, clubhouse, aerobics classes, weight facilities, a full social program, fabulous ocean views and beach access. Today it has a waiting list of over 400 families. Palos Verdes residents who are not members are able to use the club except on holidays, for a charge of $30 per person.
