On May 7th, the Peninsula’s Peck Park will be celebrating its long awaited opening after its almost $4.8 million refurbishment project to spruce up this natural haven. The project was funded by Proposition O, and focused on cleaning and maintaining the stream that comes from the Palos Verdes Peninsula and travels underground to drain into the Los Angeles Harbor. The canyon has been a long time, popular spot for hikers and track teams. The improvements in the three mile long stretch includes new granite hiking trails, foot bridges, educational signs, benches, native plants and vegetation.
Since the park is also a popular place for dog walkers, there will be doggie bag stations and more trash cans. Like all open parks, dogs must remain on leashes at all times.
So bring a picnic and enjoy the opening of this beautiful canyon. The Peck Park Community Center is located at 560 N. Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes 90275.
