365 Things To Do In Palos Verdes – The Hills Are Alive 10K/5K Run & 5K Walk

Palos Verdes homes owners are lucky to have their own local “The Hills Are Alive Race” which benefits the Pepper Tree Foundation.  The Pepper Tree Foundation was established in 1982 to promote citizen contributions and donations to help enrich the quality of life in Rolling Hills Estates.  The Foundation has been helpful in providing trees, benches, picnic tables and other items to enhance and preserve the city parks and open spaces.  This is the 30th annual race and will take place on Saturday, August 13, at 8:00 a.m.

The race will take its participants either running or walking on soft-packed bridle trails through scenic Rolling Hills Estates and the beautiful grounds at the South Coast Botanic Gardens. The race will start and finish at Ernie Howlett Park.  Trophies will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers of the 10K and 5K run.  Medals will also go to the top three finishers for both the male and female categories.  Both runs will have different age divisions.

The registration fee for the event is $30 for advance sign up (or $35 for those who sign up on race day) and will include a tee shirt.  Participants may sign up in person at RHE City Hall during regular business hours (Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., or Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).  Pre-race packets will be available at Road Runner Sports in Torrance, on August 11-12, (Thurs & Friday) and you will receive a 10% shopping discount during those two days.  Race packets will also be distributed at Ernie Howlett Park prior to the start of the event.  Ernie Howlett Park is located at 25851 Hawthorne Blvd, Rolling Hills Estates 990274.
