As a Palos Verdes homes owner, you have probably visited the South Coast Botanic Gardens on more than one occasion, and here are some of the wonderful activities they have planned for September 2012:
On September 1st, Tai Chi in the Garden Fall 2012 Series will begin their monthly Saturday series, from 10:00-11:00 a.m., and will continue through October 20th. This is an ancient Chinese technique emphasizing relaxation, balance, coordination and agility. Tai Chi is a system of exercise and strength as well as mental and physical discipline. This is a great way to help improve your health! Master Wang Hui will be instructing, and there is a $30 fee for members/$40 for non-members.
On September 3rd will bring the PV Symphonic Band Labor Day Concert on the upper event meadow from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. The concert actually starts at 5:00 p.m., but its fun to bring a picnic and enjoy the meadow before the concert begins. The band is a 50 person group lead by David Stanton. They will be playing “Big Band” type music with favorites from around the world. There is a $7 per person fee at the door.
On September 12th, the Bird Lectures will be starting on Wednesday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. This lecture series will go through November 14, at a cost of $55 member/$65 for non-members. Eric and Ann Brooks will be discussing and identifying many of our local bird species.
These are just a few of the great opportunities that the South Coast Botanical Garden brings to our area. For more information about these activities, and the many more that are available go to www.southcoastbotanicgarden.org, or call (310) 544-1948.
