Santa Claus

The holidays have arrived and Palos Verdes homes owners can enjoy many upcoming events.  There are tree lighting celebrations, holiday parades, Nutcracker ballets, visits with Santa and more.  Here are just a few of the events coming your way:

On Saturday, November 24, 2012, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., there is a “Spirit of the Holiday Concert and Sing-A- Long” at the Frances Young Hall located at the South Coast Botanical Garden.  They will be bringing in the holidays with beautiful music of Wendy Katagi and friends and an ensemble from the Palos Verdes Symphonic Band.  There will also be a sing- a- long so everyone can enjoy their favorite carols.  They will be serving hot cocoa, gingerbread and cookies.  The cost is $15 per person at the door or online through www.wendykatagi.com.

Also at the South Coast Botanic Gardens on Sunday, December 2, 2012, the foundation will be having a Holiday Boutique  from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  This will be a fun event with lots of holiday gifts and other treats.  There will be a raffle to win fabulous prizes, and many other activities including a meeting of the Kids Club, Gingerbread House Workshops, and a special visit and photo opportunities with Santa.  Entry to the boutique is free.  The gardens are located at 26300 Crenshaw Boulevard, Palos Verdes Peninsula.

On Saturday, December 1, 2012, the City of Rolling Hills Estates annual Parade of Lights will take place.  This is a great opportunity for local community groups and businesses to sponsor floats and parade groups to join in this 14th annual parade.  The parade will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and will go along Silver Spur Road, Deep Valley Drive and the Center Drive.  Palos Verdes Estates council member Rosemary Humphrey will serve as Grand Marshal.  There are floats, bands, animals and, of course, Santa to make this an event to remember.  It is suggested to come a little early to find yourself a great viewing spot.  For more information or to request an entry registration, contact Andy Clark at (310) 537-4240 or go to AndyC@ci.Rolling-Hills-Estates.ca.us.

The Peninsula Center will be having Santa and his elves visit next to the large Christmas tree beginning Saturday, December 1, 2012, from 11:30 to 4:00 p.m., and Sunday, December 2, 2012, from 12:15 to 4:00 p.m. More Santa visit dates in December are, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22 & 23rd and the hours are 12:00 to 3:00p.m.  Your dogs and cats can have their photos taken from 3:00 to 4:00p.m.  On 3 Saturdays – Dec., 8, 15 and 22 –  the Carolers will be strolling from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.  The Peninsula Center is located on the corner of Silver Spur Road and Hawthorne Blvd. For more information go to info@peninsulashoppingcenter.com.

Dance Peninsula Ballet will be presenting its annual production of the “Nutcracker” on Saturday, November 24, at 2:00 & 7:30 p.m,  Sunday, November 25, at 1:00 & 5:00 p.m., Friday, November 30, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, December 1st, at 2:00 & 8:00 p.m., at the Norris Theatre located at 27570 Norris Center Drive,  Rolling Hills Estates.  For more information contact the Norris at (310) 544-0403 or go to www.NorrisTheatre.org.

Terranea Resort will have their annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Sunday, December 2, 2012, at 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.  It will take place on the Catalina Lawn Terrace and will be a fun event for the whole family.  For more information call (310) 265-2861.
