Above is a photo of some of the volunteers that have helped restore our local Three Sisters Reserve to attract birds once again. Since we have had all sorts of environmental changes to the land, (fire, weather, etc.) it has taken several years of hard work to get this green life to appear at the Reserve. Palos Verdes homes owners and other volunteers have made these changes possible. Without the assistance of local help we would not be able to restore all of the plant and wildlife that are native to our area. We want to keep these green spaces alive and we need to support our local organizations which make this possible.
On December 1, 2012, the White Point Nature Preserve is looking for volunteers to help plant native vegetation and beautify the demonstration garden surrounding the Nature Education Center. They will be working from 9:00 to 12:00 p.m. and there is plenty of parking at 1600 W. Paseo Del Mar, San Pedro. You might want to call ahead to check the weather in the morning at (310) 561-0917 for update.
On December 8, 2012, the Portuguese Bend Reserve will be holding its volunteer morning from 9:00 to 12:00 p.m. and is trying to restore its habitat by planting native shrubs and removing invasive plants. To get to the Reserve drive to the end of Crenshaw Boulevard and enter through Del Cerro Park. Del Cerro Park is located at #2 Park Place, Rancho Palos Verdes.
Native Plant Nursery will be working on seeding and weeding their plant containers on December 15th, from 9:00 to 12:00 p.m. This is important as these seedlings are then transferred all over the Palos Verdes Peninsula to our different reserves. This is by reservation only. Please visit www.pvplc.org or call (310) 541-7613 for more information.
