The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy will be celebrating Earth Day on Saturday, April 20, 2013, and Palos Verdes homes owners will have the opportunity to join in this special day at our own White Point Nature Preserve. We have been celebrating Earth Day in this country since 1970. According to the City of Palos Verdes Estates April 2012 newsletter, “The first Earth Day led to the creation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the passage of the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Act.”
This fun day has activities for the whole family to enjoy. From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., they will be working on beautifying the Native Plant Garden and Trails. At 10:00 a.m., there will be a nature walk with Docent John Nieto. From 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., you can join in the Palos Verdes blue bufferfly art project sponsored by Art At Your Fingertips Docents. Then at 11:00 a.m., a geocaching activity (searching for hidden items using GPS coordinates) will be taking place and you are encouraged to bring your own GPS units.
Come and join other caring families and take a moment to enjoy nature on Earth Day and be grateful for the beauty that surrounds us. Coffee will be provided by Starbucks.
Call (310) 541-7613 to RSVP, or visit www.pvplc.org . White Point Nature Preserve is located at 1600 W. Paseo del Mar, San Pedro 90731.
