Peninsula High and Palos Verdes High were once again ranked among the best high schools in the nation as reported by Walker Williams, Superintendent of Palos Verdes Unified School District, much to the delight of Palos Verdes homes owners.  In the Measuring Progress Spring Report, Walker reported that the Washington Post ranked Peninsula High 31st in the state and and 281st nationally on its America’s Most Challenging High School list, and Palos Verdes High ranked 33rd in the state and 295th nationally. U.S. News and World Report recognized Peninsula High as the 24th best high school in the state and 156th in the nation, and recognized Palos Verdes High as the 43rd best high school in the state and 269th in the nation.  Both schools earned gold medals from U.S. News and World Report for placing in the top 500 high schools in the nation on its “Best High School” list.

Palos Verdes and Peninsula High schools also made the Newsweek’s America’s Best High Schools list.  This was based on the best 2,000 public high schools in the nation, and used graduation rates, college acceptance rates, average test scores and number of students enrolled in Advanced Placement Tests.  Peninsula High, ranked 88 in the country, also made the top high schools in the West.  Their graduation rate is 100 percent, and 99 percent of the graduates go off to college. Palos Verdes High followed the list at 159 in the nation. Palos Verdes High also graduates 100 percent of its students and sends 98 percent of its students to college.
