Every year, I wait for Harry’s Berries to appear at two of our local farmer’s markets – Torrance (at Wilson Park) and Hermosa Beach. Their Gaviota strawberries are not only the sweetest berries I have ever tasted but are also full of flavor. Other strawberries will taste dull after you experience Harry’s Berries Gaviotas. Last week, they were at their peak flavor and it would be a good time for you to give them a try as they have a short season. Harry’s Berries said they planted more strawberries this year and hope to have them past the beginning of August. The tend to sell out early so I recommend that you arrive at the farmer’s market within the first couple of hours. You will also want to buy a jar of their strawberry jam – such a treat!
The Hermosa Beach Farmer’s Market is located at the corner of Valley Drive and 11th Street (just north of Cypress Park) and is open Fridays from noon to 4:00 p.m. The Torrance Farmer’s Market is located at Charles H. Wilson Park, 2200 Crenshaw Boulevard and is open Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
