Peninsula Seniors Lecture Series for February 2014

Palos Verdes homes owners have a wonderful opportunity to hear several interesting topics discussed at the February 2014 Lectures sponsored by the Peninsula Seniors.  These Lectures take place at Hesse Park located at 29301 Hawthorne Boulevard, Rancho Palos Verdes, in the Fireside Room on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

February 5 – Lindsay Ross who collects unusual classic cars and travel trailers, will tell stories of how the mid 20th century automobile design reflected the influence of celebrities and popular cultural themes of that area, especially those of Southern Californians.

February 12 – Award winning television host and best selling book author Maureen Nunn,will be sharing her knowledge of Pat Nixon who she personally knew.  Maureen’s mother and Pat Nixon shared a long friendship that is documented in letters that the women exchanged.  Maureen has presented at the Presidenial Libraries and was well received.

February 19 – The first woman in a wheelchair to compete in a Miss California beauty pageant was Maria Serrao.  She has produced and starred in her own cable fitness show called “Everyone Can Exercise.”  She is the first woman to work as a sports anchor/reporter from a wheelchair.  After a car accident at the age of five, Maria has been in a wheelchair yet she has never stopped trying to attain her goals.  Currently, she works for Channel 33 in Palos Verdes.

February 26 – Peter Small, the historical impressionist, has performed for national audiences at the Ronald Regan, Herbert Hoover, Richard Nixon and George Bush presidential libraries.  He has appeared on the History Channel and will appear here as George Washington and hopes to separate fact from myths.
