Palos Verdes Library District February Activities

The Palos Verdes Library District offers great opportunities for Palos Verdes homes owners during the month of February.  There are interesting classes for both adults and children to enjoy.  Listed below are just a few of the fun events that are available:

Organic Cooking Class will be offered on Tuesday, February 4, and February 11, 2014, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  They will discuss Phytochemicals, why they are important and how to get the most from vegetables and fruits rich in these nutrients.  Phytochemicals are being promoted for the prevention and treatment of many health conditions and you will be taught how to shop, grow, cook and store these foods.

Young Readers 2014, the Steam Craft Series, (Steam – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) will be offered on Friday, February 7, 2014, at 4:00 to 4:45 p.m. and will cover terrific technology along with crafts and presentations.

eBooks Download will be offered on Sunday, February 16, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Palos Verdes Farmers Market with librarians showing how to download free ebooks.  The farmers market is located at the Peninsula Center on Hawthorne Boulevard and Silver Spur Road.

Classical Music Series 2014 will present a classical music concert on Saturday, February 22, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. with Mirae Sohn featured on the oboe as one of the series outstanding young artists.

Living History Museum will be celebrating African American History month on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  This will be a presentation put on by students from K thru 8th and should be inspiring for all ages.
