Palos Verdes Homeowners offered Smart Gardening Workshop at the South Coast Botanic Garden on Saturday, June 21, 2014, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.  The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works Environmental Programs Division is sponsoring this workshop where you can learn organic gardening, landscaping with native plants and controlling bugs without pesticides.  This is considered a beginning workshop, but they will be able to answer more advanced questions regarding fire plant protection and composting.

Smart Gardening will be presenting advanced workshops in the future for additional information on organic gardening, the art and science of good soil, pest control management and more about our own native and drought tolerant plantings.

Palos Verdes homes owners who are interested in purchasing backyard compost and worm bins, can purchase them at this workshop for $40 – $65 each, with cash or check.  There is no fee for the workshop, just the normal entrance fee to the Garden.
