Palos Verdes South Coast Botanic Garden Offers Tai Chi & Yoga Classes
Palos Verdes homes owners have a wonderful opportunity to fulfill a New Year’s goal by participating in the winter session of exercise classes at the South Coast Botanic Garden. The Gardens are offering Tai Chi and Yoga classes on Saturday mornings in January and February. Classes will be held at the Koi Pond Patio, giving you the opportunity to exercise in a natural setting instead of a studio environment. You will feel the peace and energy of the Gardens around you. The pace of these classes are appropriate for most individuals.
Tai Chi in the Garden, will be taught by Angie Sierra and Chua Phat To Temple from 8:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. on Saturdays in January and February 2015. This ancient Chinese technique emphasizes relaxation, balance coordination and agility, as well as flexibility and mental discipline. The cost of each class is $10 and drop-ins are allowed.
Yoga in the Garden will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.; each class will begin with gentle stretching and progress to deeper stretches and flow yoga. The instructor for the series is Nicole Fagone, E-RYT. You will need to bring a mat, and dress in comfortable clothes. In case of rain, you may be moved inside to a dryer location. The cost is $15/class for non-members and $12/class for members and drop-ins are allowed. The class will focus on embracing the positive aspects of the self to encourage a life long practice of acceptance and success. Some of the classes that will take place are: “Yoga for Balance” on Jan. 24, “Yoga for Strength” on Jan. 31, “Yoga for Stress/Relaxation” on Feb. 7, “Yoga for Love” on Feb. 14, “Yoga for Elevation” on Feb. 21 and “Yoga for Intuition” on Feb. 28, 2015.
