Peninsula Seniors Lecture Series & Coffee and Cars November 2017
Palos Verdes homes owners have a wonderful opportunity to hear interesting topics at the November 2017 Peninsula Seniors Lectures Series. These Lectures take place at Hesse Park located at 29301 Hawthorne Boulevard, Rancho Palos Verdes, in the Fireside Room on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
November 1, 2017 – The Pennyroyal Players will be returning to present “Piecin’ It Together” which features a multi-woman show offering singing and story-telling, with well-known melodies from Anne Destabelle’s 1960’s folk-music days. You will also hear an original theme song, Piece by Piece, written by Gay Durward. The Pennyroyal players travel from Vermont to California, bringing lively and touching musical portraits about those who settled the American West. Through story and song, “Piecin’ It Together” reveals humor and hardships of pioneering life—endured by men, women and children.
November 8, 2017 – Geoff Guenther is a chemical engineer who writes fiction and non-fiction, including three computer books, seventeen stage plays and four novels. His latest work, a historical novel titled “In The Mouth Of The Lion,” is the story of a fictitious 1942 invitation by the German High Command for Carl Jung to go to Germany and psychoanalyze Adolf Hitler. Six years of research for “In The Mouth Of The Lion” provided the basis for “All About Adolf.”
November 17, 2017 – Jean Alden Cohoe will be presenting three short plays: Break In, Mistaken Identity and Happy Accident. Jean Alden Cohoe is returning by popular demand with Readers Theater Repertory at San Pedro. This should be another fantastic presentation by Jean and Company.
November 29, 2017 – Lori Prichard, known as the Master Falconer, will be presenting an overview of the art of falconry, the basic equipment used and the procedure for catching and training a hawk. This is your chance to get up close and personal to raptors used to control the population of seagulls and pigeons at Redondo Beach Pier and King Harbor.
On Saturday, November 4, 2017, the Peninsula Seniors will sponsor Coffee & Cars at the Peninsula Shopping Center (off Silver Spur Road and Hawthorne Boulevard in Rolling Hills Estates). At 7:30 a.m., a group of car enthusiasts will bring their Hot Rod, Custom, Muscle Car, Sports Car, Antique, and other special interest vehicles, to the Peninsula Shopping Center parking lot where you can admire the cars, meet the owners and ask them questions.
