Palos Verdes Library District May 2018 Activities
The Palos Verdes Library District offers several opportunities for Palos Verdes homes owners during the month of May. There are interesting classes for both adults and children to enjoy. Listed below are just a few of the great events that are available:
Art Stories @ the PV Art Center will be offered on Friday, May 4, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., offsite at the Palos Verdes Art Center. They will be offering a special story time and crafts at the Center, plus story reading and an art project related to the current exhibits at the Art Center. The Palos Verdes Art Center is located at 5504 Crestridge Road, Rancho Palos Verdes.
Art Show: Malin Rigby Bilgic Opening Reception will take place on Friday, May 4, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. in the Peninsula Center Library Space. This is Malin’s first solo show and will be available for viewing for the month of May. She will have a mix of her early paintings and new series which explore aerial views. Malin was born in Sweden, and spent 15 years in Istanbul. She has been a resident of Palos Verdes since 2015.
Free Comic Book Day will take place on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Library Community Room. This is a free event and while getting their free comics, children can make crafts and take pictures to be their own superhero. The event is suggested for grades K-8 and no registration is required.
Community Art Project will take place on Saturday, May 19, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Miraleste Library on the Deck. This is an opportunity to participate in the creation of an extra large community art piece at the Miraleste Library. You can drop in anytime during the above hours to add your creative stamp to the piece. The local artist, Malin Rigby Bilgic will be leading the participants. No art skills are necessary and all supplies will be provided. This is open to all ages.
Boomers and Beyond – upcoming classes about “Aging Well” on the Peninsula. During the month of May they will be offering Chair Yoga, Senior Hike, and Scams Targeting Seniors. For more information call (310) 377-9584 x 601.
