Palos Verdes 2018 Fourth of July Celebrations!

Palos Verdes Fourth of July Celebrations 2017 gives Palos Verdes homes owners two different kind of festivities to enjoy during the daylight hours.  One will take place at Malaga Cove School and the other at Point Vicente Park Community Center – each one giving residents a full day of fun.

Palos Verdes Estates homes owners will be holding their 57th Annual Independence Day Celebration at Malaga Cove School.  The celebration is an annual community tradition where volunteers work together to provide a day of family fun and a renewed sense of appreciation for our independence and freedom.  This year’s Kenneth T. Norris Heritage of Freedom Award recipient is Greg Allen.  The Van Dine Family Americanism Award will be presented to PVE-CARES at the celebration.  Also this year a Military Service Award will be given to the family of Cliff Graham for his service in the Marine Corps, and the Hardwick Memorial Award will be given to Amber Renee Owens.  The day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with Apple Pie Entries being accepted for judging.  Face Painting will also be offered to get children ready for the big Children’s Patriotic Bicycle Parade which starts at 10:10 a.m.  At 10:15 the Magic Show will start, and at 10:30 a.m. the formal program and award presentations will begin.  After the dedication ceremonies, (and beginning around noon) there will be picnics, family games and patriotic music.

Malaga Cove School is located at 300 Paseo Del Mar, Palos Verdes Estates.

Rancho Palos Verdes will be hosting their 43nd Annual Independence Day Celebration at Point Vicente Park Civic Center located at 30940 Hawthorne Boulevard from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  Starting at 11:00 a.m. there will be guest entertainers followed by a Flag Ceremony, PV Symphonic Band and the Mayors Welcome.  Later, there will be a Watermelon Roll Contest, Egg Toss Contest, Pie Eating Contest, Arts & Crafts with Art to Grow On, Lady Liberty Selfies station, Kiddie Carnival rides, Hula Hoop Contest and live music and dancing.  There will also be a food court and beer & wine garden.  Admission to the celebration is free, but parking is $5.  There is a complimentary shuttle service provided from Ralph’s Market (Hawthorne & Crest) and the Point Vicente Interpretive Center.  For more information call the Rancho Palos Verdes Recreation and Parks Department at (310) 544-5260.
