Enjoy Palos Verdes Library District’s July & August’s Free Movies!
The Palos Verdes Library District has some great free movies that they will be showing in the month of July 2018. Each month they offer a different selection of foreign movies – “latest” releases and a classic cinema. Most of the screenings will have some post film discussion which adds an opportunity to socialize with others in the community. The PVLD’s Ciné-Monde, a film series featuring notable films from around the globe, will be screening AFTER THE STORM at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018, in the Peninsula Center Library Community Room. The movie describes a man who tries to reconnect with his family using a memory from his youth involving a storm. This event is free and open to the public.
The Multiplex film series (featuring notable, popular and recent American releases from Hollywood) occurs on the fourth Thursday of the month on July 26, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. In July they will be presenting LADY BIRD, which was a top choice for the 2017 Oscars and won many awards. This movie follows Lady Bird as she navigates high school and her turbulent relationship with her mother. These movies are free and open to the public. Following the film, there may be a brief discussion facilitated by the coordinator of the series.
The International Animation Festival will take place this month for grades 6 through 12 only, with presentations at 1:30 p.m. for three acclaimed features:
A Cat in Paris (France, 1 hr 10 min.) July 25, 2018
Persepolis (Iran, 1 hr 36 min.) July 26, 2018
Patema Inverted (Japan, 1 hr 38 min.) July 27, 2018
Upcoming movies for August are: Red River (August 6, 2018), Das Weisse Band (August 9, 2018) and Wonder (August 23, 2018).
All of the film screenings will take place at the Peninsula Center Library Community Room. The Peninsula Center Library is located at 701 Silver Spur Road, Rolling Hills Estates. For more information regarding any of the films, call 310-377-9584.
