Terranea Resort is celebrating Earth Day this Saturday, April 20, 2019. They will be hosting family friendly events where attendees will learn to help the environment while having fun doing it. This should be an enjoyable day, for all ages.
Educational Green Wall – will take place at Pointe Discovery from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This will include Storybook reading – literature from the public library to encourage a more sustainable alternative to purchasing books. Landfill diversion game – will consists of 3 colored & labelled bins (compost-green, recycling-blue, landfill – black) with laminated cards of different products/items (pictures in front and fun facts on the back). Participants can determine where these products should go by putting them in the appropriate bins.
DIY Seed Bomb Station will take place at Point Discovery from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There is a suggested $5 donation to Palos Verdes School Gardens for this station. Here you can make your own herb, flower and vegetable seed bombs to take and plant your own warm season garden. All ages are welcome. No reservations are necessary.
Planting Station will take place at Pointe Discovery from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There is a suggested $5 donation to Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy. Hotel guests and locals can plant native wildflower seeds to take home and grow courtesy of the conservancy. All ages are welcome and no reservations are necessary.
Guided Nature Walk will take place from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. and will meet in the hotel lobby. Tou can join one of Terranea’s naturalists for a complimentary guided walk along the nature trails. Guests will learn about Palos Verdes Peninsula’s unique local marine ecosystem and Terranea’s year-round conservation efforts. This is open to hotel guests and locals, offered daily and meets in the main lobby. No reservations are necessary.
Kelp Forest Cleanup Kayak Tour will meet at the Experience Center from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This is a fun coastal kayak tour where you can clean up trash along the way. You will be there to help beautify the kelp forest. This kayak tour is $80 and is open to the hotel guest and locals. This tour does require advance reservations.
Beach Frames Art Project will take place on Nelson’s Lawn from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at a cost of $10. You will join Art To Grow On Inc. and create your very own beach frame. Seashells, stones, sand, and more will make this an awesome way to honor our oceans and planet. All ages are welcome. No reservations are necessary.
Suzy Blue Butterfly Cookie Decorating will take place at Sea Beans from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at a cost of $4. Sea Beans will let you decorate your very own Suzy Blue butterfly cookie. Guests will be able to indulge their sweet tooth while learning about the Palos Verdes blue butterfly. No reservations are necessary.
