Palos Verdes Art Center 2019 Summer Art Camps
Palos Verdes Art Center is offering its Summer Art Camps 2019 with a variety of classes for Palos Verdes homes owners’ children to enjoy here on the Peninsula. These classes will encourage your children to develop their creativity and skills and just find some new ways to have fun! Each week’s theme and activities, designed by art educators, are different. Classes are divided into age appropriate groups.
Age Group 5 – 7
June 17 – June 21
June 24 – June 28
The summer theme for the 5-7 age group will be “Art in Nature” and “Animals In Art.” Students will make their own magical creations through drawing, painting, collage and sculpture all inspired by nature. They will create ceramic nature rubbings and butterflies, collage Monet inspired plates, sculpt fairies or gnomes, paint garden, forest and landscape scenes with paint, pastels and watercolors. The art camp is designed to develop basic skills while building confidence in a fun and nurturing environment.
Age Group 8+
June 17 – June 21
June 24 – June 28
The summer theme for this age group will be “Mythical Creatures” and “Mythical Kingdoms.” Students will create dragons, unicorns, sirens and other mythical animals inspired from Medieval times using modern techniques of assemblage, montage, sculpture and painting with new fun materials. This camp will give students an opportunity to explore and learn a combination of basic skills and visual art techniques. Students will enjoy engaging with their peers and local artists.
The above camps will be in session from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily at a cost is $280 (Members $250). There is limited spacing, so early sign up is recommended.
