The Palos Verdes Library District has some great free movies that they will be showing during the months of July & August 2019.  Each month they offer a different selection of foreign movies, “latest” releases,  and classic cinema.  Most of the screenings will have some post film discussion which adds an opportunity to socialize with others in the community.  In June and July, the following movies will be presented.

The Multiplex film series will be offering a very special feature on July 25,  2019, at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.  GREEN BOOK is about a working class Italian-American bouncer who becomes the driver of an African American classical pianist on a tour of venues through the 1960’s American South.

Classic Movies at Noon, which shows films from the 1930’s through the 1990’s on the first Tuesday of the month, will be screening on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at noon, NORTH BY NORTHWEST (1959) in the Malaga Cove Gallery.  The story is about a New York City advertising executive who goes on the run after being mistaken for a government agent by a group of foreign spies.

The PVLD’s Ciné-Monde, a film series featuring notable films from around the globe which are shown on the second Thursday of the month, will be screening DAUGHTER OF MINE (Italy, 2018) on Thursday, July 11, 2019,  at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. in the Peninsula Center Library Community Room.  This film is about a daughter torn between two mothers, one who raised her with love and her biological mother who instinctively claims her back.

All of the film screenings will take place at the Peninsula Center Library Community Room, except for Classic Movies at Noon which shows at the Malaga Cove Gallery located at 2400 Via Campesina, Palos Verdes Estates.  The Peninsula Center Library is located at 701 Silver Spur Road, Rolling Hills Estates.  For more information regarding any of the films, call 310-377-9584.
