Palos Verdes home owners have some great presentations in the October 2024 Peninsula Seniors Bohannon Lectures Series. These Lectures take place at Scriba Family Center located at 602 Deep Valley Drive, Rolling Hills Estates, with in-person lectures beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the following Wednesdays:
October 2 – “Road Trip Across Mongolia” will be presented by CA State University Long Beach Professor Emeritus Dr. Tom Kelty, Department of Geological Science. He will be discussing geography and geology of this land locked country bordering Russia and China, and its gracious people.
October 9 – “Port of LA – Gateway for International Commerce” will be presented by Augie Bezmalinovich, Community Affairs Advocate for the Port of LA. He will be presenting an update on the busiest port in the Western Hemisphere, its origins with Phineas Banning in the 1850’s, and status of the new waterfront project.
October 16 – “Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Action” will be presented by Tony Self, tech expert, local realtor and business owner. Tony is an early adopter of AI integrated into his business and will discuss the real world impact of this newer technology on business operating efficiency and profit.
October 23 – “Rancho Palos Verdes City Update” will be presented by City Manager, Ara Mihranian, who will be reviewing key issues facing the city including the Portuguese Bend landslide, proposed housing development projects, business development, conservation efforts, crime and more.
October 30 – “All Hallows Eve” will be presented by Ann & Lee Strong, the music appreciation instructors who will present a special holiday lecture to celebrate evil. This Halloween talk about creepy music from the 17th to 20th centuries is guaranteed to put us in the Halloween “spirit.”
On Saturday, October 5, 2024, Coffee & Cars will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on the top parking deck of the Promenade Mall. On the first Saturday of every month, a group of car enthusiasts will bring their Hot Rod, Custom, Muscle Car, Sports Car, Antique, and other special interest vehicles to this location where you can admire the cars, meet the owners and ask them questions. To reach the top parking deck, enter from Indian Peak Road at the Peninsula Shopping Center, off Silver Spur Road and Hawthorne Boulevard in Rolling Hills Estates.
