Cherry Blossoms are in bloom at the South Coast Botanical Garden

Where To Enjoy Blooming Cherry Blossom Trees Locally!

Palos Verdes residents have an opportunity to join the Cherry Blossom Festival at Columbia Park in Torrance, on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You can enjoy pink and white blossoms in bloom, in addition to cultural performances, food, and crafts from local artisans. The festival will have 63 craft vendors and 15 food trucks this year, and is a great opportunity to get together and enjoy this beautiful park. The trees at Columbia Park were gifts to Torrance from Soka Gakai International in 2001, starting with a contribution to the city of 10 trees. This started as a their commitment to plant 100 cherry trees at the park over 10 years. That number has since risen to 500 trees to be planted in various parks throughout the city. Columbia Park is located at 4045 190th Street, Torrance.

At our own South Coast Botanic Garden you can see Cherry Blossoms beginning to bloom throughout the Garden. As they have a short blooming season, many believe that cherry blossoms symbolize the fleeting beauty of life.  Cherry Blossoms are the symbolic national flower of Japan and are said to be an omen of good fortune and an emblem of love and affection. Blossoms are seasonal, weather dependent and vary from year to year.

Another fun event taking place this month at the Garden is the Dog Walk on March 30, 2025. This would be a great time to take your fur buddy on a walk at the park while you get to enjoy the beauty of these blossoms all around you. The cost to bring your buddy with you is only $5, and you will need to make reservations in advance with your admission purchase.

The price for admission to the South Coast Botanic Garden is: adults $15, seniors $11, students with I.D. $11, children 5 to 12 $5, and children 4 and under are free.  For more information or to purchase admission tickets click here.  The South Coast Botanic Garden is located at 26300 Crenshaw Boulevard, Palos Verdes Peninsula.  For more information call (310) 544-1948.
